I'm planning on doing graduation in designing and at the moment I've been accepted into MICA, Baltimore, USA and the second round for NID, Ahmedabad, India. Which one should I consider?

Hello Mitusha,

Both MICA in Baltimore and NID in Ahmedabad are well-regarded institutions for design, and ultimately the decision should be based on a variety of factors such as your personal preferences, career goals, financial considerations, and location.

MICA is known for its strong focus on communication design and offers a range of programs in graphic design, advertising, animation, and more. The program is known for its interdisciplinary approach and collaboration with other departments such as film and media studies. Baltimore is a vibrant city with a growing arts scene and proximity to other major cities on the East Coast.

On the other hand, NID is a prestigious design school in India that offers programs in a wide range of disciplines such as product design, communication design, textile design, and more.  The program is known for its thorough educational plan and accentuation on involved learning. Ahmedabad is a historic city in western India with a rich cultural heritage and thriving design industry.

Consider the following factors to make your decision:

  • Program curriculum and course offerings: Which program aligns more closely with your interests and career goals?
  • Faculty and facilities: Do some research on the faculty members and facilities available at both institutions to see which one offers the resources you need to succeed.
  • Location: Do you have a preference for living in the United States or India? What are your considerations around cost of living, safety, and cultural experiences?
  • Career opportunities: Research the job market and alumni networks of both institutions to see which program might offer better opportunities for your desired career path.
  • Financial considerations: How much will it cost to attend each program? Are there scholarships or financial aid available to help offset the cost?

Think about these elements cautiously prior to going with your choice. Ultimately, the program that aligns best with your personal and professional goals is likely the best choice for you.
