UCEED 2026 Registration Opens: Key Dates, Eligibility & Exam Format Unveiled for Design Aspirants

IIT Bombay has officially launched the application process for the national-level entrance exam UCEED 2026 — aimed at admission into 4-year Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) programmes at several IITs and IIITDM Jabalpur.
The registration window is open until 31 October 2025 for regular fees.

UCEED 2026 will be held on 18 January 2026 (Sunday) in the time slot 9 am to 12 noon.
The question paper carries 300 marks and consists of two parts:
- Part A (200 marks, 2 hours): Computer-based test covering visualisation, spatial reasoning, observation, design-sensitivity, environment & society, analytical & logical reasoning, language & creativity.
- Part B (100 marks, 1 hour): Drawing/design aptitude; written/drawn answers in the answer booklet.

Applicants must be born on or after 1 October 2001; relaxed to 1 October 1996 for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
Eligible to attempt a maximum of two times, and that too in consecutive years.
Students from all streams (Science, Commerce, Arts & Humanities) who appeared for Class XII (or equivalent) in 2025 or 2026 are eligible to apply.
Registration fee:
- Women, SC/ST, PwD candidates → ₹2,000
- Other candidates → ₹4,000
- Late fee of ₹500 allowed up to 5 pm on 7 November 2025.

UCEED is the gateway to top B.Des programmes at IITs and IIITDM Jabalpur.
With the exam date and format out, aspirants for the 2026-27 academic session must gear up now — focusing on both design-aptitude and visual/creative skills.
Understanding the two-part structure early gives candidates a strategic edge: strong Part A grounding and dedicated drawing/design practice for Part B.
